About the Firm
Kevin H. Cohen
Kevin has extensive experience representing individual
and corporate clients in all aspects of estate planning
and administration. His experience ranges from small
to multi-million dollar estates in both national and
He routinely drafts complex estate plans and all
documents relating to the administration of estates
including the preparation of federal and state gift
and estate tax returns and fiduciary income tax returns.
His practice includes defending those returns on audit.
Kevin is proficient in handling federal and multi-state
gift, estate and generation-skipping transfer taxes.
He is skilled in conducting litigation matters including
objections to accountings, construction proceedings
and contested probates. Kevin has served as an expert
witness in intricate trusts and estates and tax litigation.
While Kevin represents major banks in complicated
trust and fiduciary matters, he is also attentive to
the needs of his individual clients. He counsels families
in estate planning, long term asset protection, retirement
planning, charitable giving, tax, Medicaid and related
elder law matters.
Kevin was the recipient of the prestigious Westchester
Business Council Forty Under Forty award. This award
recognizes individuals who are leaders in their field.
Kevin served as an assistant adjunct professor at New
York University's Center for Finance, Law and Taxation
where he taught Federal Income Taxation of Trusts and
Estates. As a frequent guest speaker on a wide array
of trusts and estates and elder law topics, Kevin has
lectured at major financial institutions, senior living
facilities and to students at colleges and various law
schools. He frequently participates as a panelist and
featured lecturer for numerous continuing legal education
seminars sponsored by the New York State Bar Association
and other organizations.
Kevin is the co-chair of the Trusts and Estates Section
of the Westchester County Bar Association and serves
as the 9th judicial district representative to the New
York State Bar Association’s Trusts and Estates
Section. He has been recognized in the Metro area Super
Lawyers in the Trusts & Estates category and has
also been named a Five Star Professional Wealth Manager
Award Winning Trusts and Estates attorney.
Kevin started his career as a tax consultant for
a Big Six accounting firm. Thereafter, he joined the
trusts and estates department of a major Wall Street
law firm as an associate. Prior to starting the Law
Offices of Kevin H. Cohen, P.C., in 2003, Kevin headed
the trusts and estates department of a prominent Westchester
law firm where he also concentrated in the practice
of elder law.
Kevin received his law degree from the Benjamin N.
Cardozo School of Law (J.D., 1995) and graduated, cum
laude, from the State University of New York at Albany
(B.S., Business Administration, Concentration in Finance,
1992). He is admitted to practice law in New York, New
Jersey and Connecticut. Memberships: New York State
Bar Association, Westchester County Bar Association.
Shari L. Soloway
Shari is a graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School
of Law (J.D., 1995). Her honors include a position as
Notes Editor for the Cardozo Women's Law Journal. Shari
received her undergraduate degree from Brandeis University
(cum laude, B.A., dual major: History and American Studies,
1991). She is admitted to practice law in New York.
Shari is experienced in handling estate planning
and administration cases and manages probate and guardianship
proceedings. She drafts estate plans and all advanced
directives involving health care and financial decisions.
Shari also handles corporate matters including negotiating
contracts, establishing corporate entities and advising
our commercial clients with respect to various transactions.
Prior to her association with the Law Offices of
Kevin H. Cohen, P.C., Shari was an associate in private
practices that focused on trusts and estates, real estate,
commercial litigation and corporate law. As counsel
for a leading title insurance company in Manhattan,
she was involved in all aspects of title insurance for
residential and commercial real estate transactions
and is trained in drafting real estate documents.
Alexander J. Wooldridge
Alex joined the Law Offices of Kevin H. Cohen, P.C.,
in October 2007. Prior to joining the firm, Alex was
an associate for a Westchester County law firm where
he concentrated in the practice of real estate law.
Alex also served on the legal staff of a large Manhattan
law firm where he assisted with discovery for complex
commercial litigation matters.
Alex is experienced in handling complex trusts and
estates matters. He is proficient in drafting detailed
and comprehensive estate plans and all related documentation.
Alex attends court hearings, meets with clients to develop
estate plans and is involved in all aspects of probate
and administration proceedings, including the preparation
of estate and gift tax returns. Alex also handles all
aspects of trust administration and is skilled in drafting
an array of trusts to suit the needs of our clients.
Alex is fluent in French and is a graduate of McGill
University (B.A., Political Science and History, 1998).
He received his law degree from the Pace University
School of Law (J.D., 2005) and is admitted to practice
law in New York and Connecticut. Alex also received
a Master of Arts in War Studies from Kings College,

Laura M. Belkner
Laura joined the Law Offices of Kevin H. Cohen, P.C.,
in September 2012, following her graduation from the
Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. During law school,
Laura was an Articles Editor for the Cardozo Journal
of International and Comparative Law. Her note, titled “The
Secular and Religious Legal Framework of Afghanistan
as Compared to Western Notions of Equal Protection and
Human Rights Treaties,” was published by the Journal
in the spring of 2011.
Laura handles complex estate litigation cases involving
will contests, trust administration and accounting proceedings.
Laura is also experienced in probate and administration
proceedings as well as various areas of elder law. She
is well versed in preparing estate tax returns and drafts
detailed estate plans, advance directives and prenuptial
agreements for the firm’s estate planning clients.
Laura was named as a Super Lawyer Rising Star for the
New York-Metro area for Trusts and Estates litigation.
Laura received her Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from
New York University in 2009. Memberships: New York County
Lawyers Association (Young Lawyers Section), New York
State Bar Association, New York City Bar Association
Eliza A. Fraser
Eliza joined the Law Offices of Kevin H. Cohen, P.C.,
in April 2014, after completing a fellowship program
with the Westchester County Surrogate’s Court.
Eliza focuses her practice on estate and gift tax planning
and elder law matters. She drafts a variety of estate
planning documents including wills, trust agreements,
business succession planning documents and advance directives.
Eliza formulates complex estate plans for high net worth
clients. She is also instrumental in assisting clients
in elder law planning.
Eliza graduated from
Brooklyn Law School (J.D. 2013). During law school,
she was President of the National Security Law Society
and served on the Executive Board of Brooklyn Law Students
for the Public Interest. Eliza received her undergraduate
degree from Wake Forest University (cum laude, B.A.,
Political Science and International Studies, 2009).

County Women’s Bar Association.
Patricia M. Marcello
Pat has over fifteen years of experience as a paralegal.
Pat's specialty is Medicaid planning and the preparation
and submission of Medicaid applications. She is extremely
well versed in asset protection and Medicaid rules.
Pat is also involved in estate administration issues
and drafts probate petitions, deeds and transfer documents.
Pat is well acquainted with the process of marshalling
estate assets, fiduciary accountings and gift and estate
tax returns. She is also responsible for preparing real
estate transfer documentation with regard to Medicaid
and estate planning.
Pat started with our firm in 2005. Prior to her tenure
here, Pat worked for a well known elder law and trust
estates law firm in Westchester County. Pat received
her paralegal certificate from Mercy College. She is
a graduate of Marymount College (B.A., Fine Arts) and
has a Masters of Fine Arts from State University of
New York at New Paltz.
After running her own childcare business for many
years, Kathleen joined our firm as an administrative
assistant in May 2014 and handles many duties that keep
our office running smoothly. Kathleen tracks the status
of our cases and offers administrative support to our
attorneys. She is also responsible for maintaining our
